8 Years

8 years ago I said yes to a very important question, "Do you take this man?" I would say yes all over again in a second! I love you very much Darrell.
Happy Anniversary!

Catch Up Post #4-Jack update

Okay this it the last update post. I have been asked to get some new pic's of my sweet sugar up on the site and here you go. He's changed a bunch in the last couple of months. Jack has learned how to pull up and stand on his own. And in the last week is standing without assistance for about 10 seconds. We are still working on the whole walking thing. If you hold him up he just wants to bounce/dance. It's a work in progress. He has taken a big interest in books lately. He loves to turn the pages and watch you point out the pictures. However he just calles everything "da" or "ga". Again it's a work in progress. We had "Parents As Teaches" come out to the house for our fall visit and Pam said Jack is right on track with his development. The only thing we need to work on is his eating. Don't get me wrong he eats everything. He's just not a big fan of the texture of regular food. He will play with it, but doesn't realize it's food. He'll put every toy we have in his mouth, but not food, unless it's a Cherrio or a Puff. Crazy kid!

I'm also throwing in some pictures from Jack's first boat ride. Our neighbors John & Linda asked us to go out on their boat yesterday afternoon and in an attempt to avoid cleaning up from the Pig Roast, we said heck yea! The river was smooth and the weather was perfect. We even got up close with a really big paddle boat.

Catch Up Post #3-Pig Roast 2008

Last Saturday we hosted the annual Thompson Family Pig Roast. We had a great day this year. It stayed in the mid 80's with a light breeze and was cool enough at night we lite the outdoor fire pit. The pork and turkey turned out delicious and all the sides and desserts were yummy. We love hosting the Pig Roast because it gives us a chance to catch up with friends and family we may have not seen in a year. My only regret is that I wasn't able to sit down and talk to everyone who came. We will see all of you again next year and thanks to everyone for making it a great party!

Catch up Post #2-Aunt Nora & Uncle Vince

We were so lucky to have my Aunt Nora and Uncle Vince come to Missouri for a visit.(They live in Florida) My Uncle Vince had his high school reunion 2 weeks ago(I won't say how many years!) and we were able to visit with them in Ste Gen. I don't think we've seen them since Darrell and I got married so it was so wonderful to see them and for them to meet Jack. We had a wonderful visit and hope to see them again soon.

Catch up post #1-Colleen and Mark's baby shower

I co-hosted Colleen & Mark's baby shower with my good friend Bobbi earlier this month. We threw a co-ed baby shower and it was the first time the guys had ever been to a baby shower. Some of the comments made were priceless! A good time was had by all and the parents-to-be received a lot of great gifts to get them started. And thanks to Bobbi for co-hosting!

Here are some pictures from the shower

Catch up

I've been playing catch up for the last week so the blog has been on my list but always gets pushed to the bottom.

My family has a strange way of making this time of the year the craziest. We seem to plan everything for the entire year into the month of September. I'm not compaining because I'm usually the one who is doing all the planning. Darrell had his surgery. I cohosted my good friends Colleen & Mark's baby shower last weekend here at our house.(Good time, good food, chocolate fountain, yum!) We have the Pig Roast Sept. 27. We have our 8th wedding anniversery coming up on the 30th. And that's just the big stuff.

Darrell always gets on me for worrying about things too much. I'm a planner because I know if I put things off I will get stressed and inturn I stress about getting stressed. Like I realized that Chrsitmas is only 3 months away and I haven't even started shopping yet. I ususally have jump on that by now. And I need to start looking into stuff for Jack's birthday because my little turkey will be turning the big-01 in November. I bring most of this on myself, I know. I think in some ways it keeps me on track. If I can get it done and off my mental check list then I don't have to worry about it. But I always seem to add more to that check list so I never get it done.

Anyway this post was supposed to be short and sweet and it turned into a ramble. I'll get pictures up from the weekend and some new one's of Jack soon.

No More Snoring!

Well, Darrell has made it through his sleep apnea surgery and is recovering. He went to the hospital this morning at 6:30 and his surgery started at 8:30. It only took about 45 minutes and he has had no problems. Just to be on the safe side Dr. Park is keeping him overnight tonight and Darrell should be home sometime tomorrow morning.
