Blackberry pie and cinnamon treats

When I was a kid and my mom would make homemade pies she always used the left over dough to make these sweet, simple, little cinnamon treats. They were just rolled up left over dough with butter, cinnamon, and sugar. I think I like these better than the pies most of the time.

I made a blackberry pie from the fresh ones we picked over the weekend and sure enough I had just a tiny bit of dough left over. They are cooking now.

Peaches and Blackberries

We took a trip to a "pick your own" farm today called Thierbach Orchards & Berry Farm, http://www.thierbachorchards.com/ . In season right now are their peaches and blackberries. We got a little bit of a late start so the blackberries were a little tough to find, but we picked enough to make a pie. (if there's any left after we munch on them!) After we were done with the blackberries we headed to the peach orchards for some fresh picked peaches. Jack loved finding all the peaches on the ground and throwing them. And he also made freinds with the farm dogs we seemed to love anyone who pet on them!

I got my Martha Stewart on when we got home and I made homemade peach cobbler with the peaches we picked. I can't wait for dessert tonight!

Husband vs. Wife

Someone needs to explain to me how my husband can spend hours in the middle of no where, track, and kill a deer, with out any problem but cannot seem to find things in a drawer, cabinet, or freezer in our house.
Why do men have this problem? I remember my dad would claim my mom would "hide" things, when in reality he never really "looked" for them.
Tonights example...I made apple pie and told Darrell that we had vanilla ice cream, in the freezer outside,to go with it. He goes out side and comes back with no ice cream, claiming there is not vanilla in the freezer. I go out and open the freezer, move a bag of frozen veggies, and voila...vanilla ice cream!! Darrell just smiled at me. I however don't understand. It was right there!!!!!!! LOOK for it.

Is this why husbands always ask their wives, Have you seen my...fill in the blank? Are we the keepers of all knowledge for things they have misplaced? And why is that? He lives here too. He knows where things are.
Again he still asks if we have toliet paper...knowing full well that if it isn't under the sink, there should be some in the hall closet. If it's not there, then we're out. It have been like this since we've lived together!! (we've never un out)And I know Darrell's mom has the same system as well. But alas I hear..
"Honey do we have any toliet paper?"
I reply.."Did you look?"
"Umm. no."
Again I reply, "Well then look."
Really it's a simple concept. Even Jack knows where his diapers are. You can ask him to go get one and sure enough, he'll toddle back to his room and get one out of the basket. Not once yet has he had to ask where they are. And he's only 1 1/2!!!!!
